Mid-Ohio Foodbank works to provide effective ways for hungry people to meet their basic food and nutrition needs. The foodbank handles more than 66.5 million pounds of food annually. Through its partnerships with food pantries and other organizations, they provide more than 149,164 meals every day to hungry people across central and eastern Ohio.

As a volunteer, we'll work on one of the following activities that support hungry families

  • Reclamation: Volunteers inspect and sort items received from grocery stores before they are shipped to food pantries.
  • Frozen Goods Sorting:  The foodbank is able to recover tons of good protein and products by sorting and packing assorted frozen goods.  The products come packaged from the grocery store and volunteers help inspect for quality and sort by category.  The project room is kept cool, but is not a freezer.

Attire:  Attire should be something casual, comfortable and that can get dirty. Since warehouse climate can be tricky, layers are recommended.  For safety purposes, we cannot allow volunteers to wear open toed shoes, sandals, or loose jewelry/clothing.

Misc:  The foodbank has a secure area of lockers. There is a large parking lot. Please enter through the main doors.
