Woof Woof! Join Besa at Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center, and support local furry friends with a sweet treat and a cozy blanket!

Many of the arriving rescue dogs are in poor shape and a warm blanket can provide comfort to a shelter dog. The blankets that you'll create will help make their kennel a bit more pleasant and helps them feel safer as they await adoption.

Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center is committed to saving lives. Their shelter is the largest county shelter in Ohio. Last year they took in 11,697 dogs and puppies, including all stray dogs in the county as well as owner surrenders and unwanted litters of puppies.

KONGs, used in shelters everywhere, provide endless entertainment and comfort for dogs. They can be used to dispense treats for chewing or for fetching, since their playful shape gives them an unpredictable, stimulating bounce.  When animals are enjoying KONG toys, they are less likely to bark, so noise levels drop, which reduces the stress in these environments. Less stress results in happier, more adoptable animals.

As a Besa volunteer, we'll stuff KONG toys with treats and peanut butter and create no-sew comfort blankets.
