The United Methodist Free Store provides clothing and household items to individuals and families in a hospitable atmosphere that affirms the self-worth of each individual. Everything in the store is provided to families, free of cost, so they aren't burdened with paying for basic necessities. More than 50,000 families have become members of the Free Store since they opened our doors in January 1999.

Join Besa and the Free Store to help support South Side residents in need. Besa volunteers will assist in a variety of roles including greeting clients, sorting through donations, organizing the store, checking out clients, and bagging items.

  • 14 is the minimum age required and all minors must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Free parking is available in the lot on the North Side of the building. Street parking is also available.
  • Court-appointed volunteering: At this time, we can not accept court-appointed requests.

The Free Store could use the following donations to support the Southside residents that shop the store. If you’d like to donate any of these items, please bring them with you when you volunteer and notify your Besa Volunteer Leader.

  • Toiletries
  • Household items (blankets, towels, small appliances, etc.)
