Details:

Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center is committed to saving lives. Their shelter is the largest county shelter in Ohio. Last year they took in 11,697 dogs and puppies, including all stray dogs in the county as well as owner surrenders and unwanted litters of puppies.

As a volunteer, your team will make enrichment toys, such as "pupsicles" and snuffle mats, and have the opportunity to take dogs on a brief walk. Enrichment toys and walks provide entertainment and comfort for dogs, which reduces stress while living in shelter environments. Less stress results in happier, more adoptable animals.

  • A lead volunteer from FCDSAC will provide a brief training and orientation
  • This is a teen-friendly opportunity, but all minors must be accompanied by an adult. You must be at least 18 to walk a dog.
  • Please dress for the weather as walks will be outside. FCDSAC encourages wearing layers and clothing with pockets.
  • This event is not recommended for those with a peanut allergy.
  • Parking is available in the surface lot.
  • A Besa representative will be on-site to greet your team.
