Details:

Star House is a drop-in center for homeless youth in Central Ohio. These young people live directly on the streets, in abandoned buildings or couch surf. Star House offers a safe place for homeless youth to seek services and access stabilizing resources such as meals, housing, counseling, education support, and employment opportunities. In 2018, they served 1,199 individual youths, up from 531 in 2013.

Join Besa and Star House to help support homeless youth. The Star House Warehouse provides basic essentials to homeless youth, such as hygiene products, clothes, shoes, and blankets. As a volunteer, we'll assist in a variety of roles including sorting donations, organizing items, and moving donations into the warehouse as they arrive.

  • 16 is the minimum age required and all minors must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Closed-toe shoes are required.

  • Comfortable clothing and a bottle of water are encouraged.
  • Parking is available in the surface lot.
  • This event is ADA accessible.
  • Court-appointed volunteering: At this time, we can not accept court-appointed requests.

Star House could use the following donations to support the homeless youth accessing the center. If you’d like to donate any of these items, please bring them with you when you volunteer and notify your Besa Volunteer Leader.

  • New Underwear (boxers/boxer briefs preferred for men)

  • Boots & Shoes (comfortable for walking long distances)
