Since 1977, LSS CHOICES has provided counseling, shelter, crisis intervention, education, and community and legal support and advocacy to central Ohio residents facing domestic violence. LSS CHOICES is the only domestic violence shelter in Franklin County. 

 

During this time many of us feel unsafe and uncertain about the future. But for survivors of domestic violence, sheltering in place can feel familiar. Although social distancing is recommended to prevent the spread of COVID-19, abusers now have a legitimate excuse to control and isolate the survivor. As domestic violence surges, CHOICES continues to provide safety and support to survivors. 

 

Join Besa and CHOICES online as we gather virtually to provide breakfast and words of encouragement to women experiencing domestic abuse. Using Zoom, we'll guide volunteers through a simple breakfast cookie recipe that will be given to women and children staying at CHOICES. Volunteers are also welcome to include encouraging notes for both the women and staff at CHOICES. 

 

Volunteers have the option to drop off their breakfast cookies or have them picked up by a Besa team member. Read below for more information about both options and include your selection in the "Notes" section. 

 

  • DROP-OFF: Monday, April 20th from 11:30am-12:30pm at Faith Mission – 217 N. Grant Avenue
  • PICK UP: Monday, April 20th from 9am - 11am. Please include your address and contact number in the notes section.

Below are the ingredients you'll need for this recipe:

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup applesauce or mashed banana
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter - or other nut butter of your choosing
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2bsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp chocolate chips
  • 3 tbsp dried fruit (ex: raisins, craisins, etc.)
  • Salt
  • Optional add-ins: chia seeds, coconut, nuts, etc. 
  • Ziplock bags/ Tupperware you don't mind parting with
