We believe the human spirit shines of light and of love – now more than ever. Besa wants to harness and celebrate that spirit. So we are on a mission to show acts of gratitude throughout Columbus in one week.

Here's how:

Since 1965, Neighborhood Services, Inc. has been feeding our Columbus neighbors. Today, they are continuing to alleviate the effects of poverty by providing nutritious food to those in need amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, they are feeding 70-75 families a day by preparing food boxes that are picked up at the pantry.

Join Besa and Neighborhood Services, Inc. to help provide food to our neighbors in crisis. As a volunteer, we'll help unload food supplied by the Mid-Ohio Foodbank and package it into individual family boxes. Depending on the items being unloaded, moderate to heavy lifting may be involved. Minimal client interaction will take place during this volunteer event. All clients will remain in their cars.

Your safety is our utmost concern. Volunteers will be provided with masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, and we'll also practice social distancing. If you have your own personal protection equipment, please feel free to bring it.

Ohio’s current stay-at-home order permits people to continue helping neighbors. Healthy and willing volunteers are needed now more than ever, especially to feed the hungry. While we have many neighbors in need, we must each take care of ourselves first. If you are a vulnerable population—an older adult, a cancer patient, live with asthma, etc.—please stay home. If you have traveled out of the country recently, please stay home. If you feel sick or exhibit any symptoms of the virus as shared by the CDC—fever, coughing or shortness of breath—please stay home.

  • 14 is the minimum age required and all minors must be accompanied by an adult.
