We believe the human spirit shines of light and of love – now more than ever. Besa wants to harness and celebrate that spirit. So we are on a mission to show acts of gratitude throughout Columbus in one week.

Here's how:

LifeCare Alliance’s Meals-on-Wheels program provides nourishing food 365 days a year to homebound older adults and individuals living with a medical challenge or disability. They home-deliver approximately 5,000 meals a day across Ohio. The need for Meals-on-Wheels continues to increase daily with the rise of older adults and neighbors with developmental disabilities that are temporarily home-bound due to COVID-19.

Join Besa and LifeCare Alliance/Meals-on-Wheels to support homebound and chronically ill individuals across our community. As a volunteer, you will deliver nutritious meals to homebound neighbors during the lunch hour, using your own vehicle. LifeCare Alliance will provide an overview, training, and route delivery instructions.

Your safety is our utmost concern. We encourage all volunteers to bring and wear masks, gloves and use hand sanitizer.

Ohio’s current stay-at-home order permits people to continue helping neighbors. Healthy and willing volunteers are needed now more than ever, especially to feed the hungry. While we have many neighbors in need, we must each take care of ourselves first. If you are a vulnerable population—an older adult, a cancer patient, live with asthma, etc.—please stay home. If you have traveled out of the country recently, please stay home. If you feel sick or exhibit any symptoms of the virus as shared by the CDC—fever, coughing or shortness of breath—please stay home.

  • Volunteers New to Meals-on-Wheels: A short introduction will be provided at 11:00am to orient you with the program.
  • Returning Volunteers: If you already went through a Meals-on-Wheels orientation, you do not need to show up until 11:30a.
  • A reliable vehicle with adequate back seat or trunk space is required.
  • A valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance are required.
  • Parking is available in the surface lot.
  • A Besa representative will be on-site to greet you and answer any questions.
