St. Stephen’s Community House, a faith-based settlement house, has been brightening lives in Columbus since 1919. One of the many services they provide is a fully stocked food pantry. Currently, they are feeding over 700 families a week and have seen a significant increase in need during the pandemic.

Join Besa and St. Stephen's Community House to help provide food to our neighbors in need. As a volunteer, we'll help unload food supplied by the Mid-Ohio Foodbank and organize it in the pantry. Depending on the items being unloaded, moderate to heavy lifting may be involved. No client interaction will take place during this volunteer event.

Volunteers will be provided with masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, and we'll also practice social distancing. If you have your own personal protection equipment, please feel free to bring it.

Ohio’s current stay-at-home order permits people to continue helping neighbors. Healthy and willing volunteers are needed now more than ever, especially to feed the hungry. While we have many neighbors in need, we must each take care of ourselves first. If you are a vulnerable population—an older adult, a cancer patient, live with asthma, etc.—please stay home. If you have traveled out of the country recently, please stay home. If you feel sick or exhibit any symptoms of the virus as shared by the CDC—fever, coughing or shortness of breath—please stay home.

  • All volunteers must be 18 or over.

  • Wear comfortable shoes and clothing you don't mind getting a little dirty.

  • Please note: This project takes place both indoors and outdoors. Wearing layers is encouraged.

  • Parking is available in the surface lot. As to not get blocked in during the shift, please back into the parking spots that are along the tree line in the main parking lot

  • This event is ADA accessible.
  • Court-appointed volunteering: At this time, we can not accept court-appointed requests.
