For more than 127 years, Columbus Humane has been sheltering homeless animals, fighting animal cruelty and neglect, and offering programs to address the needs of animals in our community. Every day, over 250 animals are being supported by Columbus Humane, with over 8,000 animals supported each year.

Join Besa and Columbus Humane to provide enrichment for shelter dogs! As a volunteer, you'll help make enrichment toys, such as "pupsicles" and snuffle mats. Enrichment toys provide entertainment and comfort for dogs, which reduces stress while living in shelter environments. Less stress results in happier, more adoptable animals. Depending on the dog population at the shelter, volunteers may have limited interaction with dogs. All supplies will be provided.

Face masks are required to be worn at all times. Social distancing will be observed. Masks and gloves are available upon request. There is no community interaction during this volunteer event.

The health and safety of volunteers is a priority. If you are sick, over the age of 60, or have a chronic health condition, it is in your best interest to stay home. Click here for more information about COVID-19.

• 12 is the minimum age required and all minors must be accompanied by an adult.
• Volunteers are required to complete a waiver. This waiver will be sent to you prior to the event.
• Closed-toe shoes are required.   
• We encourage wearing clothing that you don't mind getting dirty.
• This event is not recommended for those with a peanut allergy.
• Parking is available in the surface lot.
• This event is ADA accessible. 
• Court-appointed volunteering: At this time, we can not accept court-appointed requests.
