The Highland Youth Garden began in February 2009 as two recreation centers closed in the Hilltop community. Caring individuals began working with the neighborhood elementary schools to plan positive activities for the youth and the idea of a garden program emerged. In the years that followed, and with the commitment of many volunteers of all ages, the Highland Youth Garden grew to become a .40 acre community garden focused on children.

Join Besa and Highland Youth Garden to increase access to local produce for Hilltop families! As a volunteer, you'll help plant seeds/seedlings, water, weed, harvest fresh produce, and support the produce distribution stand.

Volunteers are required to bring their own face masks and must be worn at all times. Plastic gloves are available upon request. Social distancing will be observed. No client interaction will take place during this volunteer event.

The health and safety of volunteers is a priority. If you are sick, over the age of 60, or have a chronic health condition, it is in your best interest to stay home. Click here for more information about COVID-19.
