Community Shelter Board, in partnership with the YMCA, opened a new shelter to address the growing numbers of men, women and families who are experiencing homelessness. The new shelter is designed to move people more quickly into stable housing and stop repeat homelessness.
As a volunteer, you will work side-by-side with the kitchen staff to provide dinner to families. This includes: preparing the dining room, serving meals to guests, clean-up and interacting with guests.
Please note:
  • 14 is the minimum age
  • Closed-toe shoes are required
  • If possible, bring your completed liability waiver when you volunteer for the first time. If not, we'll have some available on-site.
  • If this is your first time volunteering at the shelter and you would like a tour - please arrive at 5:45 and ask for Charity!

Freedom a la Cart could use the following donated items in the kitchen as part of meal service. If you’d like to donate any of these things, please bring them with you when you volunteer.

  • Condiments (any size)
  • Sweeteners (any size or variety)
  • Plastic utensils
  • Disposable cups
  • Paper lunch sacks
  • Sandwich bags
  • Gallon of milk
  • Drinks
  • Desserts

We look forward to supporting families with you!
