Virtual Volunteering: Make St. Patty's Day Treats for FamiliesSupport Families Experiencing Domestic Abuse Date: March 19 | Time: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Venue: Online
Address: Details: Since 1977, LSS CHOICES has provided counseling, shelter, crisis intervention, education, and community and legal support and advocacy to central Ohio residents facing domestic violence. LSS CHOICES is the only domestic violence shelter in Franklin County.
During this time many of us feel unsafe and uncertain about the future. But for survivors of domestic violence, sheltering in place can feel familiar. Although social distancing is recommended to prevent the spread of COVID-19, abusers now have a legitimate excuse to control and isolate the survivor. As domestic violence surges, CHOICES continues to provide safety and support to survivors.
Join Besa and CHOICES online as we gather virtually to provide delicious St. Patrick's Day treats and words of encouragement to families experiencing domestic abuse. Using Zoom, we will guide volunteers through making green sugar cookies! These will be given to women and children staying at CHOICES. Volunteers are also welcome to include encouraging notes for both the women and staff at CHOICES. This is a great volunteer opportunity to do as a family!
If you'd like to make another delicious treat instead of the recipe below, please feel free. CHOICES can only serve dessert if it is donated - all treats are welcome!
Volunteers will need to drop off off their cookies on Monday, March 22nd any time between 10:00 am-2:00 pm at Faith Mission – 217 N. Grant Avenue - please note the donation drop off is located on the side of the 217 N. Grant building on McKee Alley.
