Habitat For Humanity - MidOhio

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI), and the Mid-Ohio Affiliate, is an ecumenical Christian housing ministry. Habitat affiliates work locally in communities around the world to select and support homeowners, organize volunteers, and coordinate house building. Since its founding in 1976, Habitat has built more than 500,000 homes worldwide, providing shelter for more than 1 million people in nearly 90 countries. In Franklin and Licking counties, Habitat has built more than 250 homes since 1987.
Habitat for Humanity - MidOhio (HFHMO) is one of the only housing agencies in Franklin County targeting families who earn 30-60% of median income. HFHMO partner families are chosen after a careful review process during which Habitat assesses their need for housing; their ability to repay a zero-interest, no-profit mortgage; and, their willingness to partner with Habitat through sweat equity.
Also supporting HFHMO are “Habitat’s ReStores,” retail outlets that accept and re-sell reusable home improvement materials to the general public. Revenue from sales directly offsets Habitat’s administrative costs and assists in both eliminating substandard housing and creating homeownership in Franklin and Licking counties. Habitat’s ReStores are located at 3140 Westerville Road and 240 N. Wilson Road. The re-sale stores are open to the public Mon-Sat 9am-6pm and Sun 12pm-5pm. Donations may be delivered to Habitat’s ReStores until one hour before store closing time.

Habitat for Humanity

Volunteering for Habitat for Humanity is such an amazing experience. Being able to be apart of something as big as building an entire house for someone in need was fun. I'm not gonna lie. It was a full day of tough work, but it was worth it. I was able to work along side and meet the person that the house was being built for. I believe this is a truly a unique experience that shouldn't be missed. No building experience is necessary and the leads on site are great at offering direction to newbies. I can't wait to do this again!
