Franklin County Public Health

The Franklin County Board of Health was established in October 1919 as a result of the Great Influenza, the most devastating pandemic flu on record. We have operated as a full-service health department in the State of Ohio since that time.In 2010, the department's name and logo changed to Franklin County Public Health (FCPH) to more accurately reflect all the services performed. Our Board is still known as the Franklin County Board of Health. See below to learn more about our structure and how we operate by law.

Leading into Thanksgiving week I was humbled yesterday by the human spirit. This was a first for the members of our Besa group and I’d guess all will return. We joined another small group of volunteers who knew the ropes and guided us with welcoming arms. The first hour we unloaded delivered food. Bagged loose items like beans and cucumbers. The next two hours we escorted members of the community who came for food for their family. We carried small crates through the line and placed selected items in the cars of such beautiful people. We had time to talk as we walked; we caught small snippets of their life and got a few little kids to giggle. I was humbled by the gratitude and kindness of those we served. Thank you for a beautiful morning I can’t wait to bring the whole family back to this event.
