Cookie baking was the BEST time I've had yet! AWESOME EVENT!

This is the first Besa volunteer opportunity I have been to that I had the chance to focus on the volunteers I was working with; we were able to truly get to know one another and how they became a part of BESA, all while donating our talents and time to benefit others.

I learned that one of the girls found out about BESA on Facebook through a friend of hers and just moved back from New Orleans. She had a stint working in AmeriCorps and brought a friend along with her. She just moved back to Columbus and was looking for ways to get involved again in this community. Then there was a couple who had been working with BESA awhile and I got to hear about what her and her husband do, how they met, what events they like, etc. It was so ironic that the Volunteer Leader worked in a similar professional field as me. It gave us something to talk about. Plus, the last woman who came to help is a grandmother who nannies her nephews and grandkids. She doesn't have a job other than nannying and wants to spend more time giving back and keeping busy.

I know that's not really feedback as much as it is telling you what happened, but I left with a huge smile. I know it doesn't have an immediate/direct impact on the individuals we are helping since we aren't interacting with them as much, but it was so fun to bake with the BESA volunteers and so fulfilling to know that families are going to eat our baked goods and feel so appreciative for something so simple.

Love love love. Thank you.
