Community Shelter Board, in partnership with the YMCA, opened a shelter to address the growing numbers of men, women, and families who are experiencing homelessness. The shelter is designed to move people more quickly into stable housing and stop repeat homelessness.

Over 100 children staying at the Van Buren Shelter have a delay in their education due to school cancelations related to COVID-19. Join us online as we gather virtually to foster literacy for children staying at the Van Buren Shelter! Using Zoom, we'll guide volunteers on how to make reading flashcards. These flashcards will help students continue to develop their reading skills even with the interruption of their education.

A few things to note:

  • Click here to join the Zoom Meeting on Wednesday. The meeting ID is: 933-4437-2148 and the password is 850639
  • This is a kid-friendly opportunity, but we ask that all minors be joined by an adult.

  • Volunteers will mail or drop-off their flashcards to the Van Buren Shelter: ATTN: Kristian Tucker, 595 Van Buren Dr. Columbus, Ohio 43223
