Columbus Recreation and Parks connects the people of our community through the power of nature, wellness, and creativity. With more than 353 parks and countless programs, their services give all Columbus residents a chance to improve their physical and mental health, to develop our youth, to focus on our environment, and to make a positive economic impact on our city.

 

Join Besa and Columbus Recreation and Parks Department to create a safe and beautiful space for families to play. As a volunteer, you'll beautify the Thompson Community Center. Activities may include weeding, mulching, painting, and more. Supplies, including tools and gloves, will be provided.

 

Columbus Recreation and Parks will provide gardening gloves, masks, hand sanitizer and practice social distancing. If you have your own gloves, face mask and/or hand sanitizer please feel free to bring it/use your own. 

 

The health and safety of volunteers is a priority. If you are sick, over the age of 50, or have a chronic health condition, it is in your best interest to stay home. Click here for more information about COVID-19. 

 

  • 5 is the minimum age required and all minors must be accompanied by an adult.

  • A lead volunteer from Columbus Rec and Parks will be on-site to provide orientation and training.
  • For instances of inclement weather (snow, rain, etc.), Besa will inform volunteers of any cancellation via email at least 1 hour prior to the event.
  • We'll be meeting at the Thompson Community Center parking lot. 

  • Dress for the weather and in comfortable clothes that can get dirty.

  • Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes.

  • Volunteers are encouraged to bring sunscreen and a bottle of water since you will be outdoors.

  • Parking is available on-site.

  • This event is ADA accessible. 
  • Court-appointed volunteering: At this time, we can not accept court-appointed requests.
