Bake Cookies for After-School Students

Bake Cookies for After-School Students

Provide a snack to Franklinton Youth

Date: August 5 | Time: 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Venue: Gladden Community House

Address:
183 Hawkes Ave
Columbus, OH 43223

Details:

Gladden Community House is a settlement house located in the heart of Franklinton. Since 1905, they have been an essential support system and engine for change in the West side, providing education and recreation programs, emergency assistance, advocacy, and support for individuals, families, and groups.

Gladden's year-round After-School Recreation Program offers healthy, age-appropriate programming and is open to all Franklinton children every weekday after-school and throughout the summer. This includes planned daily physical activities, structured socialization activities, educational intervention, and dinner.

Join Besa and Gladden Community House to provide Franklinton youth with an after-school snack. As a volunteer, we'll bake cookies or treats for students attending the Gladden After-School program. Volunteers can make whichever treat they think kids would enjoy (cookies, Chex Mix, granola bars, etc.), as long as it can be easily packaged in Zip-Lock baggies. Oven space is limited, so no-bake cookies and treats are great alternatives!

  • A lead volunteer from Gladden Community House will be on-site to provide an orientation.

  • Volunteers must bring their own store-bought ingredients (for safety purposes, ingredients cannot be prepared off-site).

  • The Gladden kitchen has a variety of utensils, however, if your item requires a specific tool, we encourage you to bring it.

  • Closed-toe shoes are required.

  • New volunteers must complete a waiver, which will be provided prior to the event.
  • Parking is available along nearby streets, including Hawkes Avenue & Town Street. Please read all the street signs carefully!
  • This event is ADA accessible.
  • Court-appointed volunteering: At this time, we can not accept court-appointed requests
